Prof. Lok Sang Ho

President, Hong Kong Buddhist Psychology and Mental Health Association

Professor Lok Sang Ho is a distinguished economist and public policy expert, having served as President of the Hong Kong Economic Association and is currently President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Psychology and Mental Health Association. His research covers diverse public policy areas, resulting in around 110 journal articles and book chapters. He has authored notable books, including Psychology and Economics of Happiness, Public Policy and the Public Interest, and Health Policy and the Public Interest, all published by Routledge. He has also edited several works such as Happiness and Public Policy (Palgrave Macmillan) and Public Governance in Asia (Edward Elgar). His latest book, Economics and Psychology of Happiness: the LIFE Framework and Sustainable Development, was just published by Routledge ahead of the 2026 schedule.

Prof. Ho has translated key texts like the Daodejing, the famous Zen poem Xin Xin Ming and the Heart Sutra. He held academic positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong before joining Lingnan University in 1995, where he became Head of the Economics Department and Director of the Centre for Public Policy Studies. After retiring in 2015, he served as Dean of Business at Chu Hai College and Director of the Pan Sutong Shanghai HK Economic Policy Institute. Currently, he is an Honorary Research Fellow at Lingnan University and an Adjunct Professor at the Education University of Hong Kong. In 2016, he was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR Government.
